Wadena recovery group disbands, new group started [UPDATED]
Published 9:47am Monday, October 22, 2012 Updated 11:48am Monday, October 22, 2012Over the course of 26 months, it has been our privilege to witness a most remarkable set of accomplishments by a group of dedicated and unassuming citizens working simply to do good for neighbors in need. During its short history, more than $800,000 was raised, more than $2 million in repair work was accomplished, tens of thousands of volunteer hours were contributed, and more than 190 families were assisted in recovering from the tornado devastation of June 2010.
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the Wadena/Otter Tail Long Term Recovery committee disbanded and transformed itself into a new community support network with a new name and mission,
Neighbor to Neighbor will be an ongoing volunteer based service nonprofit that conducts fund raising events to gather resources and volunteer workers with which to help individuals and organizations deal with unmet needs in Otter Tail, Wadena, and Todd counties.
The initial committee includes Pastor Del Moen, Alan Lynk, Ann Pate, Jeanette Baymler, David Evert, and Barb Butler.
