Donald LeRoy Norgren, 75, of rural Fergus Falls

Donald Norgren, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Lakeland Hospice.

He was born May 3, 1937, at home in Friberg Township in Otter Tail County, the son of Inar and Iona (Kugler) Norgren.

Donald was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Erhard, and confirmed at Tonseth Lutheran Church of Erhard. He attended School District 229 (Elliott School) in Friberg Township.

On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Barbara Anderson at the home of Rev. Alexander Tjornhom in Fergus Falls. They were the parents of three children, Dale LeRoy, Dawn Marie, and Darla Joyce.

They made their home in rural Fergus Falls where they were dairy farmers for 50 years with their family.

When he was young, he used to play the accordion — he loved music. He liked to hunt, fish, and ride snowmobile, and loved to go dancing.

He was a member of Tonseth Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Inar and Iona Norgren; a sister, Janice Moen; his in-laws, Elmer Anderson, Bernice (Anderson) Bjorgo, and step-father-in-law, Louis Bjorgo; brothers-in-law, Larry Pavlacky, Dohney Anderson, Russell Anderson, Lyle Anderson and Roy Anderson; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Anderson, Vonnie Brush, Lillian Anderson, Marilyn Anderson and Helen Anderson.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara, of Fergus Falls; his children, Dale Norgren of Fergus Falls, Dawn (Oly) Ard of Erhard and Darla (Steve) Marty of Fergus Falls; one grandson, Joshua (Amy) Hanson of Appleton, Wis.; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tyson Hanson; sisters, Delores (Dean) Jorgenson, Verna Mae (Norman) Peterson, and Diane (Randy) Samp, all of Erhard; and his godchildren, Dean Baker, Marty (Samp) Carlson, Jesse Peterson and Mary (Boek) Young.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at Tonseth Lutheran Church, rural Erhard

Burial: Tonseth Lutheran Cemetery, rural Erhard
