UNDERWOOD — In the first round of section 4 9-man football, number one seeded Underwood played host to the eight seeded Bertha-Hewitt Bears, defeating them 56-6 Tuesday night. The ground game proved strong once again for the Rockets as they ran for 495 yards in a routing over the Bears.
Senior quarterback Noah Rocholl started the Rockets early with a two yard scamper into the endzone just 50 seconds into the game.
The Rockets scored again on their next drive with a four yard run by Chase Collins, who ran for a total of 148 yards in the game on ten carries.
The Rockets closed out the first quarter with two more touchdowns making the score 29-0, and from there they didn’t look back.
Underwood continue to pile on the points in the second quarter Rocholl and Collins would add two more touchdowns before the break.
In the second half, the Rockets continue to pound the ball on the ground as Cody Karst and Justin Masloski each hit paydirt.
Bertha-Hewitt’s lone score came off a 24 yard fumble recovery by Michael Grewe for a score.
Along with Collins 148 yards, Karst had 122 on the ground and Rocholl added another 76 for Underwood.
The Rockets will move on to host the four seed Verdale Pirates on Saturday. Verndale defeated Isle 42-6 in on Tuesday , so it promises to be an action packed game.
