Published 9:44am Wednesday, October 24, 2012WHEATON — In section 4 9-man the six seeded Ashby Arrows traveled to Wheaton to take on the number three seeded Wheaton Warriors, the Arrows fell short in a losing effort by a score of 77-14.
Junior quarterback Blake Ohren completed seven of his 26 pass attempts for 49 yards and one touchdown, along with 13 carries for 71 yards. Junior Gage Olson had the other Arrow touchdown on a 87 yard kickoff return to the house, Olson also had 45 rushing yards on 12 carries, with 24 receiving yards on four catches. Hunter Fick led the Arrows defensively finishing the game with 18 tackles.
“It’s been an up and down season for us trying to develop consistency in our offense and toughness on our defense. At times we play very well and other times, not so well. Tonight we did not execute our game plan on any side of the ball. I was happy in our special teams play with Gage Olson having a huge kick off return for a TD.” said Ashby Head Coach Andy Campbell.
The Arrows finished their season with a 4-5 record and looks to have a promising next season only graduating three of their players.
“We will build off some little successes we had this season and move forward in to next hopefully a little more hungry and with an understanding that games are won and lost in the off-season and not necessarily on game days. We have the bulk of our players returning but will miss our 3 seniors and their dedication.” added Coach Campbell.
