Verlyn Holton Verlyn Franklin Holton, 73, of Coon Rapids
Published 9:18am Thursday, October 25, 2012 Updated 11:21am Thursday, October 25, 2012Verlyn Holton, formerly of Luverne, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
He was born April 16, 1939, in Luverne, to Bernard and Freida (Wheeler) Holton. He graduated from high school in 1957. Soon after high school, Verlyn entered the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War.
Verlyn married LouAnn Brown on Oct. 14, 1967, in Greenbush. After their marriage, the couple lived in East Grand Forks where Veryln served in the military. After being discharged, he worked for the United States Post Office in Grand Forks. He lived at the Minnesota Veterans Home, in Luverne, before moving to the Minnesota Veterans Home, in Fergus Falls, in 2001.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling to casinos and especially spending time with his family.
Verlyn is survived by his wife, LouAnn Holton, Coon Rapids; two daughters, Terra (Jim) Fraser, Andover; and Ann (Howard) Tinkham, Grand Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Garret and Lindsey Fraser; Jonathan Holton, and Carolyn, Audrey, Andrew and Alaina Tinkham; and a sister, Carolyn (Rick) Porter, Shelton, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the veterans home, Fergus Falls; and one hour prior to the service at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne
Service: 1 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne

Burial: Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne, with military honors provided by Luverne American Legion and VFW
