PELICAN RAPIDS — The resignation of a Pelican Rapids school IT staffer prompted the school board to hire a contract worker, according to The Press in Pelican Rapids.

The district previously contracted with Lake Country Service Cooperative for a half-time tech coordinator, according to Supt. Deb. Wanek, with two tech positions on site to manage the day-to-day technical needs.

With the resignation of William Cook, one of the techs, administrators recommended to the board that the position be filled on a contract with LCSC for the same price.

Citing the complexity and vastness of technology, it has become critical to have specialists knowledgeable in specific areas, Wanek said.

The contract with the education cooperative calls for 1.5 tech staff at a cost of $70,000, with the district responsible for all compensation, benefits and withholding.
