Corrine Biksen, 81, of Fergus Falls
Published 10:02am Monday, October 29, 2012 Updated 12:07pm Monday, October 29, 2012Corrine Biksen, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Corrine Merie Olson was born on May 27, 1931, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Smith) Olson at her grandparents’ home in Dalton. She attended country school and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. Corrine went to work at the State Hospital part time at age 16. Upon turning 17, she was deemed too young to work at the hospital, but went back full time at the age of 18. She eventually became an LPN in 1973.
On May 27, 1954, Corrine married Kenneth L. Biksen in Webster, S.D., and they were blessed with five girls. The couple made their home in Elizabeth.
Corrine continued working at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls, a job she held for 45 years before retiring. Throughout her career at the hospital, she had the opportunity to work in almost every area of the facility.
Kenneth died on Oct. 7, 1978, and the family moved from Elizabeth to Fergus Falls the following spring.
Among her many interests, she loved to travel, attend Hostfest, garden and read. She was known for her collectible figurines and love for bichon dogs.
Corrine was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, first joining in 1963.
Family was very important to Corrine, especially the time spent with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her indomitable spirit.
Corrine is survived by her five daughters, Frances (Rodney) Decker of Spokane, Wash., Jonel (Peter) Hall of Everett, Wash., Karen (Ed) Livingston of Wasilla, Alaska, Connie Biksen of Willmar, and Susan (Mark) Bond of Fergus Falls; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Rachael, Jonathon, David, Kari, Amanda, Tiffany, Jarita, Jeremy, Kayla and Kori; five great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Alley, Michael, Braysen and Lillian; brothers, Thomas (Carolyn) Olson and Herb Olson, both of Fergus Falls; brother-in-law, Clarence Sporre of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and a sister, Gilma Sporre.
Visitation: Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth
