The MHSB West-Central (North) conference tournament was held Saturday in Fergus Falls, with Detroit Lakes/Frazee/Vergas coming out of the competition with both the Varsity and JV championships. The teams will head to the Twin Cities in December for their respective State Tournaments.

Evenly matched teams, and very close matches were the norm throughout the regular season, and it proved to be more of the same for the season finale. Both the varsity and JV championship matches took all five games to decide a winner, and both came down to the final frame. The number one seeds in both divisions were knocked out in the finals, with Detroit Lakes(3) defeating Wadena(1) in varsity competition, and Detroit Lakes(2) ending Fergus Falls’ (1) season to claim the JV title.

For the Otters on the day, senior Emma Devorak finished her co-ed conference bowling with a solid 100 percent fill percentage.

Devorak and Caleb Deterding will represent Fergus Falls, joining the the rest of the conference’s top eight players, at the All-Conference tournament in Inver Grove Heights on Nov. 24. For the two Fergus Falls JV teams, JV1 was led by Dan Anderson at 60 percent, and Casey Thom set the pace for JV2 with 62 percent.
