Helen Mariella (Ott) Stoering, 86, of Dent

Helen Stoering, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Sanford Healthcare in Fargo.

She was born March 2, 1926, to Clarence and Ida (Lange) Ott in Star Lake Township in rural Dent. Helen attended country school at District 129 for eight years. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Helen married the love of her life, Donald Stoering, on June 4, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.

Helen and Donald lived and worked on the family farm and raised four children, Kay, Donald Jr., John and Roy. Helen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

No one ever went away from her home hungry as Helen was a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess.

She was an avid coupon user and refunder, and she enjoyed talking on the telephone daily to friends and family.

She enjoyed fishing, and watching the Minnesota Twins, especially her favorite player, Punto.

Helen was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and her faith and her love for the Lord was expressed daily in her interactions with everyone.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Ida Ott; three sisters, Clarene, Betty and Marla; and three brothers, Jacob, Maynard and Clinton.

Helen is survived by her husband, Donald of Dent; four children, Kay Brown, Fergus Falls, Donald Jr., Dent, John (Anita) of Sauk Rapids, and Roy (Tammy) of Dent; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charlie) Werness, Watertown, S.D., Ashley Stoering, New Hope, Lindsay (Kory) Schlauderaff, Detroit Lakes, Tyler Stoering, St. Paul, Lesley (Nick) Stoering, Dent, and Nicole Stoering, Dent; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Tora, Siri and soon to be Hudson; one sister, Lavina Miller; two brothers-in-law, Clinton Neu and Herb Wischnack; a sister-in-law, Helen Ott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dent

Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Dent
