She was born on June 29, 1913, in Canada, the daughter of Paul and Anna Sapaty. Mary was of Czechoslovakian ancestory.
After attending school, she worked in a restaurant as a waitress and there she met her future husband.
On Feb. 26, 1938, she married Robert Peters in Coleraine, Minnesota. Robert was a resident of Bovey.
The couple were the parents of two children, Murrel and Delores “Dee” Peters.
In 2003, Mary became a resident of the Golden Manor and in 2008, she moved to Broen Home.
Mary was dearly loved by everyone who knew her. She loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards with her sisters, Edyth and Rose. Mary was very close to them and enjoyed their phone calls every morning and evening.
She loved rollerskating with her grandchildren and playing accordion. Feeding and watching the birds was always a favorite.
Mary was an amazing cook and best known for her barbecue chicken. She loved bright colors which reflected her vibrant personality.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert; her daughter, Delores, Mrs. Richard Habberstad, and son, Murrel; two sisters, Edyth and Rose Beckman; a grandson, David Peters.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Richard “Dick” (EllenMaye) Habberstad; four Habberstad granddaughters, Kim (Steve) Ingebretsen and Renee Brovold all of Fargo, Beth (Nathan) Eklund of Eagen and Amy (Gordon) Bergh of West Fargo; two Peters grandchildren, Helen (Bill) Mazes of Grand Rapids and Marc Peters; great grandchildren, Tyler and Haily Ingebretsen, Ashley and Elijah Brovold, Carson and Ella Eklund, Mathew, Cody and Calvin Mazes along with two nephews, Paul and Lester Beckman along with many close personal friends.
Visitation: One hour prior to the services at Broen Light and Life Auditorium
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at Broen Light and Life Auditorium
