Power restored at Fergus Falls Schools [UPDATED]

Power was restored at Fergus Falls public schools, and school will start on time tomorrow, Superintendent Jerry Ness said this afternoon.

Schools were let out an hour early Wednesday after a short in a switch box started a fire at the smokestack parking lot behind the Roosevelt Learning Center at about 1 p.m., causing some of the schools to lose power. The Fergus Falls Fire Department put the fire out, and Otter Tail Power found the problem and restored power about an hour and a half after power was lost, according to OTP officials.

All buses picked students up an hour early and some churches began their afterschool religion classes early as well.
