A car was destroyed but nobody was injured in a vehicle fire that occurred on I-94 near Alexandria early this morning.

The driver of the 2000 Buick LeSabre noticed smoke coming from under his dash and stopped the car on the shoulder of the interstate near mile marker 110. Several minutes later, he noticed open flames coming from the vehicle.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Osakis Fire Department responded to the fire at around 12:45 a.m. today.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread beyond the front end of the vehicle, but the car was a total loss.
