Rockets blast past Panthers 3-1

MORRIS — A first set loss woke a sleeping giant as the Underwood Rockets were able to rebound to take the Section 6A playoff match 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-20) over Parkers Prairie Tuesday.

“Parkers has a very athletic team we had to play good defense to stop them,” Rockets coach Diane Ross said. “Our attack was strong when it needed to be, but the key to our win was our aggressive serving.”

Underwood was able to record 16 aces in the match with Brianna Fitzgibbons (6), Karin Mortenson (4) and Kaitlyn Holen(3) leading the way.

Megan Biegler was tough at the net for the Rockets as she recorded six blocks on the evening.

The Rockets will now travel to Glenwood to take on Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in the section semi-final.

Last season, the Warriors were able to defeat the Rockets in a five set thriller in this exact same game.

First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday.
