Detailed emergency plan developed

PERHAM — After a volleyball fan collapsed at a home game in early October, the need for a comprehensive policy dealing with emergencies was adopted by the Perham-Dent School District, according to the East Otter Tail Focus in Perham.

The paragraph-long plan previously used by the district was inadequate, according to activities director Fred Sailer. The new plan runs three pages and provides more specific instruction in how to respond to emergencies.

A more-detailed plan was discussed in January 2011 after Perham basketball player Zach Gabbard collapsed on the court during an away game, but was never written. The latest incident prompted Sailer to put together the new plan.
