BARRETT — The hosting West Central Area Knights were able to sweep their way into the second round of the Section 6A South playoffs Thursday defeating the Ashby Arrows in straight sets (25-10, 25-15, 25-16).

“We found themselves behind right away in the first set,” Arrows coach Brenda Johnson said. “We were ready to play, but unforced errors has been our nemesis all season and in the first set we were plagued by it again.”

Paige Nelson was tough defensivly for the Arrows recording 10 digs, while teammate Meg Roley went 29 for 31 from the service line.

The Knights will now travel to Underwood Friday to take on the top seeded Rockets in a 7 p.m. showdown.

“The Arrows are a very young group of athletes that just keep working hard until the final whistle. This group of young ladies are competitive and willing to go the extra mile when asked,” Johnson added.

The Arrows finish their season with a 7-22-1 record.
