Sabres top Otters 103-75

SARTELL — The Fergus Falls girls swim team fell to the defending Class A state champion Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres Thursday 103-75.

“Sartell dominated the first places and many of their swimmers will be in the state finals,” Fergus coach Tom Uvaas said. “We are tired both mentally and physically but I am proud of their effort and enthusiasm.”

Rachel Appert took home a win in the diving competition scoring 175.85. Dani Ross (50 freestyle, 26.28) and Emilie Reard (100 breaststroke, 1:17.12) also captured first place finishes at the meet.

Ross would add a second place finish in the 500 freestyle (6:07.93) with teammates Abby Fisher (100 backstroke, 1:02.81) and Emily Hexum (100 breaststroke, 1:19.83) also taking runner-up honors.

The Otter relay teams had a good showing as the 400 freestyle team of Appert, Ross, Fisher and Elise Anderson took first with a time of 4:01.83, while the team of Caitlyn Colbeck, Rachel Johnson, Caitlin Hexum and Anne Childs finished second with a time of 4:22.48.

The Otters will host Rocori in their final home dual Thursday at 6:30 p.m
