PERHAM – The Underwood volleyball team did not start out the Perham Invitational the way they wanted, but finished the tournament with a 3-1 record for ninth place at the Saturday.

The Rockets dropped their opening match to Warroad 2-1 (25-16, 20-25, 13-15).

Things would turn around for Underwood as they went on to defeat Fosston 2-0, (25-21, 25-18) Mayport 2-0(25-16, 25-13) and Lake of the Woods 2-0(25-22, 25-22) all with two set sweeps.

“We had to play hard all day and I was happy about the way the team was able to rebound after the disappointing loss to Warroad,” Ross added.

Carly Masloski led the Rockets’ offensively in the tournament with 42 kills and four aces. Teammate Tara Skauge did an amazing job on defense as she tallied 69 digs, while Brianna Fitzgibbons chipped in 88 set assists.

The Rockets will be back in action Tuesday as they host Parkers Prairie at 7:30 p.m.
