FFF stewards build coalitions for action [UPDATED]

The Forward Fergus Falls (FFF) stewardship initiative is an effort to ensure a successful future for our community. Our stewards are leaders who cross boundries and build coalitions for action.

They operate at the center of tough issues, they are passionate and energetic, and people of vision. FFF continues to work diligently toward successfully accomplishing several of its goals — Destiny Drivers.

Destiny driver

success

There have been several successes in the jobs and economic development destiny drivers. GOFloat is an electric boat builder that just became our newest manufacturer. GOFloat will begin with 8 to 10 skilied workers and plans to grow to 45 to 50 workers.

Our local “Angel Investors” made it possible for this emerging business to grow and locate in Fergus Falls. We welcome GoFloat to our community.

Telework

Recently our telework initiative was highlighted by the Telecom Industry and has caught the attention of Forrester Research which conducts analysis and business opportunities for companies and clients around the world.

Watch for job openings with companies that are hiring by following the “Flexjobs” report every week in the Midweek and on the Fergus Falls telework website — teleWork.com.

Here is a sample job openings that are work-from-home positions: Crop Insurance Agent — Cargill, Hospital Coder Il — Mayo Clinic, Clinical Monitoring Trainer — Medtronic, Senior Instructional Designe — United Health group, Technical Sales Agronornist — Dupont.

Blandin Foundation

Forward Fergus Falls has been a eornmunity engagement success that has caught the attention of the Blandin Foundation. The foundation recently met with Blandìn graduates to explain a new initiative in which Blandin would like to train up to eight Blandin graduates from our community to accomplish a yet to be determined economic destiny driver.

The eight Fergus Falls graduates will be trained with other selected communities in the prooject. It is important to know that the Blandin believes in us and what we have already achieved.

These successes are just a small sample of what is being accomplished by Forward Fergus Falls. There isn’t enough room in this commentary to list them all. We will continue with some more notable successes in the November Mayors Commentary.

Congradulations and thanks to the dedicated and energetic stewards and leaders of Forward Fergus Falls.

Special Kudos

The great work being done by Forward Fergus Falls would not be possible with out the leadership, guidence and finacial support of Fergus Falls Economic Improvement Commission, the West Central Initiative Fund and Bremer Foundations. Fergus Falls thanks you.

Hal Leland is the mayor of Fergus Falls.
