FF Social Security office reduces hours [UPDATED]
Published 10:04am Friday, November 9, 2012 Updated 12:08pm Friday, November 9, 2012Effective Monday, Nov. 19, the Fergus Falls Social Security office will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – a reduction of 30 minutes each weekday.
In addition, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, the office will close to the public at noon every Wednesday.
While agency employees will continue to work their regular hours, this shorter public window will allow them to complete face-to-face interviews and process claims work without incurring the cost of overtime.
The significantly reduced funding provided by Congress under the continuing resolution for the first six months of the fiscal year makes it impossible for the agency to provide the overtime needed to handle service to the public as it has done in the past.
In addition, on Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving, all Social Security field offices will be closed to the public.

The Social Security Administration requested $11.760 billion for administrative expenses. In the fiscal 2012 year, Congress cut that budget by $400 million compared with what was allocated in the fiscal 2010 year.
Seniors, here is your money:
EPA: $7.2 billion fiscal year 2008
EPA: $9 billion fiscal year 2012
Department of Homeland Security: $46.4 billion fiscal year 2008
Department of Homeland Security: $57.0 billion fiscal year 2012
These are only 2 obvious areas where cuts need to be.
Or we could keep our clean air and clean water, protect America and stop the pampering of America’s mega profitable oil industry to the tune of over 4 billion per year subsidy and sometimes as high as 56 billion per year subsidy by the American taxpayer. We might even in some weak moment of reflection decide to stop starting wars.
