17 make life better [UPDATED]

The house being built for Isaiah Lawson on Cleveland Avenue proves once again that residents and businesses in Fergus Falls take good care of their own — and we whole-heartedly support that.

To date, 17 businesses and countless individuals have stepped forward with donations of labor, supplies and money to help the family of a four-year-old diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Though he is improving, he must live in a very specialized house that cannot have a basement, carpet or insulation typically used in homes.

As word got out that the family was struggling, more and more businesses and individuals offered to help. So far, about $105,000 has been raised for the $180,000 home. And people keep on giving.

When the going gets tough for someone here, residents always seem to come forward. What a great community we live in.
