Dorothy Loftis, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls.

She was born May 8, 1912, in Huntington, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Della Ovilla (Tuttle) Sidles, was born May 8, 1912, in Huntington, Iowa.

She received her education in rural schools in Emmet County.

On Feb. 27, 1935, Dorothy married Anthony (Tony) Loftis at United Methodist Church in Dolliver, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple made their home near Gruver and Armstrong where they began raising their family and farming until 1967.

In 1967, the couple moved to Estherville. Dorothy was employed at the Good Samaritan Center for 14 years. In 1998, Dorothy moved and made her home between Omaha, Neb., and Fergus Falls, to be with her daughters.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville for more than 50 years. She was very active in church activities, and belonged to UMW and the rug and quilting units.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane Dalen and her husband, James of Omaha; Kathleen Butler and her husband, Ben of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband; parents; one sister; 10 brothers; and one grandson.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home

Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at United Methodist Church, Estherville, Iowa

Burial: East Side Cemetery, Estherville
