The story will be told using an 1862 drawing of the battle and supplemented with first-hand accounts from diaries, letters and interviews of the soldiers. The Battle of Acton took place on Sept. 3, 1862, in Meeker County during the six-week period known as the Dakota War in Minnesota.

This event replaces the previously scheduled talk by Virgil Benoit who was injured in an automobile accident recently.

The ITOW Veterans Museum is located at 805 West Main, Perham. Winter Hours are Monday-Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday’s event is free and open to the public.
