PLGC set record for water usage [UPDATED]

A total of 33.8 million gallons of water were used to irrigate Pebble Lake Golf Course during the 2012 season, according to superindendent Rick Odden. It was the most water used since Odden started as superintendent in 1979. In comparison, only 13.9 million gallons of water were used in 2011.
The water usage, Odden said, were based on the lack of rain — 14.1 inches in 2012 compared to 31.7 inches in 2011 — as well as the heat. Odden’s records indicate that 2012 was the hottest since his arrival. Between June 26 and Aug. 9, the temperature failed to reach 85 only twice.
Pebble Lake Golf Course has a license to use up to 44 million gallons of water per season.
