A new plan for compensation could affect both union and non-union county workers.
According to OTC Administrator Larry Krohn, the study is being done to provide updated information.
“We have to comply with Minnesota pay equity laws,” said Krohn. “We have to file a report every three years to the state on compensation. The last time a study like this was done was 13 years ago.”
The county has contracted with Fox Lawason and Associates, a division of Gallager Benefit Services of St. Paul, to conduct a study which would review job performance and compensation of county employees. Fox Lawson will then assist the county with a compensation plan.
The process of enacting a new plan calls for recommendations form the county employee personnel board going to the county’s personnel committee, and then to the county board committee as a whole.
Krohn says there may be minor adjustments, but he does not anticipate any major changes because of the study.
A new plan is expected to be put in place shortly after the first of the year.
