FF’s Fisher receives all-state honors
Published 8:59am Monday, November 19, 2012MINNEAPOLIS — After a great showing on Friday afternoon, Abby Fisher was able to claim all-state honors at the Class A state meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Saturday.
Fisher finished eighth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.27. The top eight swimmers in each event receive all-state nods. Fisher came into the event in seventh after Friday’s preliminary round and was able to hold on to one of the top eight spots.
Fisher also competed in the consolation round in the 100 fly, finishing in 15th with a 1:01.9 time.
The key to Abby’s State meet was really dropping time Friday and advancing,” Otter coach Tom Uvaas said. “It is difficult to hold your time or drop second day.”
Fisher and Fergus Falls cross country runner Connor Danielson had their welcome home recognition Sunday at the Kennedy Secondary School Gold Gym.
Fisher qualified for state winning both the 100 fly and 100 backstroke events at the Section 8A meet in Warroad Nov. 10.
“We are very proud of Abby’s performance,” Uvaas added.
