Evelynn M. Hammonds, Dean of Harvard College, notified Rassmusson by letter on Oct. 19 that he had won the Detur Book Prize. The Detur Book Prize provides up to $45 to each recipient to be used toward the purchase of a book of their choice.
The Detur Prize was created from a bequest of Edward Hopkins, an early governor of Connecticut. The name “Detur” comes from the Latin Detur digniori “to the more worthy let it be given.”
