Jennie O’s new turkey bacon product is so popular nationwide, West Central Turkeys has had to expand production again.

The Pelican Rapids plant, which is production facility for Jennie-O, began rolling out the improved product in Ziplock packaging using new state-of-the-art automation equipment last summer. Demand has been so high, the Pelican plant has increased capacity for the second time in four months.

The equipment represents a $2.8 million investment for Jennie-O and parent company Hormel. Upgrades combined with other physical plant improvements represented millions in capital investment, positioning Pelican Rapids as the World’s Turkey Bacon Capital.
