Dalton man dies in crash [UPDATED]

A Dalton man died Tuesday evening after his pickup crashed into a drainage ditch north of Elbow Lake.
The 58-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, drove off of County Road 4 and traveled onto a field before hitting the drainage ditch. There was no indication at the scene that the driver tried to stop the vehicle after it left the road.
An autopsy is being done today to try to determine if the man died from the accident or a medical event prior to the crash.
The Ashby Fire Department, Prairie Ridge Ambulance, Life Link 111 Helicopter, Elbow Lake Police, Ashby Police, Minnesota State State Patrol and Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The case is under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The victims name is being withheld until relatives are notified.races
