Eileen Johnson, 87, of Pelican Rapids

Eileen Delores was born on her parent’s farm Nov. 4, 1925, in rural Wendell, to Roydon and Myrtle (Melaas) Foss. She was baptized and confirmed in Rock Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Wendell. She grew up and attended country school, graduating from high school in Elbow Lake.
Eileen continued her education with two years of Business College in Minneapolis. She worked for Barkley Allison Insurance in Fergus Falls, where she met her future husband.
Eileen married Ervin Marvin Johnson on June 30, 1955, at Rock Prairie Church in rural Elbow Lake.
Ervin was in the U.S. Army for 26 years. She lived a military life, raising a family and living in Germany, Georgia, Kentucky, Alaska and Minnesota.
On Ervin’s retirement from the army, Eileen and Ervin moved back to rural Pelican Rapids in l974. Eileen was an active member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids.
Eileen was a loving and devoted wife. She kept up with her grandkids on Facebook and enjoyed playing board games with her family. She was an avid gardener and cook, and liked to read.
Eileen’s faith was her mainstay and vey important to her. She found the good in everything, and would never say an unkind word about anyone.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Ervin; two sons, Arne (Audrey), Moorhead and Wesley (Pamela), Minneapolis; two daughters, Laurie Jo Johnson, St. Paul and Debbie (Lee) Koebernick, Badger; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Amber and April Johnson, Blake, Alyssa, Cassandra and Brooke Johnson, and Ella Koebernick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marian Prim, Fargo, Elenora (Manley) Tollerud, Apple Valley, Edwin (Donna) Johnson, Jr., Pelican Rapids, Virgie Brandt, Comstock, Betty Ann Engelstad, Portland, Ore.; and a nephew, Larry (Lee) Rovang, Eden Prairie, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roydon and Myrtle Foss; one sister, Norma Rovang; several brothers and sisters-in-law, three nephews and one niece.
Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids
