Vikings pluck Owls 68-29 in opener

HANCOCK — The Pelican Rapids Viking girls basketball team got off to a good start as they defeated the Hancock Owls 68-29 in the season opener.

The key for the Vikings was forcing 36 turnovers in the game.

Madison Korf led Pelican Rapids with 15 points, while teammates Sommer Haugrud and Mackenzie Korf each chipped in 13 in the win.

The Vikings will continue their road journey as they travel to take on the Perham Yellowjackets Thursday in a 7:30 p.m. Heart O’Lakes Conference contest.
