Assault, retaliation leads to citations and charges

Two were cited for disorderly conduct and another is expected to be charged for assault after an incident at M State and Dunham’s Sports Wednesday.

A Fergus Falls man was playing piano in the fireside room at M State when he was struck by another M State student at about 11:30 a.m. The assault occurred after a week of Facebook messaging between the two. The man suffered a swollen lip and possibly loose teeth in the assault.

About an hour after the assault was reported, the man who was assaulted and his brother, another M State student, followed the attacker to the WestRidge Mall and into Dunham’s Sports.

The two brothers searched around the store trying to find the man when a Dunham’s Sports employee called police. The man escaped through a back door before the brothers were able to find him.

Both brothers were cited for disorderly conduct. The other man is expected to be charged with assault.
