Generous nature inspiring [UPDATED]

Two stories published this week are solid examples of the generous nature of residents in Otter Tail County and Fergus Falls. One can say this spirit is fostered because of the holiday season, but we see such examples of people helping others all throughout the year and it continues to be an inspiration.

Mike Erwin, a local deejay, is performing four shows to benefit the Fergus Falls and Battle Lake Food Shelves. All proceeds, including his tips, will be given to help others have holiday dinners. Thanks for paying it forward, Mike.

The other story published which was inspiring was the postal employees saving the life of a cat from a storm drain. Apparently, the cat had entered the storm drain through a slough about 400 feet from the U.S. Post Office and couldn’t remember how to get back out.

Feeding the cat peanut butter and tuna, the postal staff managed to coax the feline out where they could grab it and take it to the Humane Society where it will hopefully be reunited with its owners.

It’s always heartwarming to know that our people here are willing to go the extra mile to help those in trouble — whether they are human or animal.
