Two new used car lots could come to FF
Published 11:02am Friday, November 30, 2012Pending City Council approval of conditional use permits, Fergus Falls could soon see two new used car lots.
One would be on 1701 West Lincoln Ave. (a B-2 zone) near JK Sports. The other would be located at 1628 North College Way (an I-2 zone) near the intersection of Tower Road and College Way.
The Planning Commission approved the conditional use permits, so public hearings will soon be held. The exact date and time of those hearings have not yet been announced.
The Planning Commission will listen to the concerns of residents and business owners, and following the hearings, it will recommend reasonable conditions under which the new businesses will likely have to operate.
The final step will be City Council approval. A proposal with fair conditions will be brought forward, and the council will likely vote on the permits at its Dec. 24 meeting. If the council approves of the permits, owners of the used car lots could start business the following day, said community development director/city planner Gordon Hydukovich.
Both used car lots would be new businesses, not extensions of existing car lots.
