‘All Shook Up’ a nice break from elections [UPDATED]

Published 10:25am Thursday, November 8, 2012 Updated 12:28pm Thursday, November 8, 2012

Sunday we took a break from the swirl of pre-election tensions to attend M State’s production of “All Shook up.” Smart move. Although there was a strong underlying theme —tolerance — the production’s familiar music, exuberant dance, evocative scenery and good humor were captivating.

Director Gerhardson, vocal director Ashworth, music director Carlson and choreographer Denzel brought out the best in their students, both those on stage and those behind the scenes.

We have attended a number of M State productions, and we have often agreed, “best yet.” Yes, again Sunday we left Waage Theatre telling ourselves, “best yet.” Bravo, all.

Three performances are coming up next weekend, and we bet they will be sold out.

With the probability that Tuesday’s elections will leave many Daily Journal readers feeling “all shook up,” we think this outstanding production could be soothing and reassuring for them.

How could you not feel good all over after enjoying a whole program of Elvis’ music?
