‘Jackets stumble in opener 66-50 [UPDATED]

PERHAM — The Perham boys basketball team saw a tough Minnehaha team come out the gates hot and steal away the season opener 66-50 Friday.

The Redhawks jumped all over the Perham defense as they went into the half with a 39-24 lead.

The Yellowjackets were able to turn up the heat on defense in the second half, but could not get back into the game.

Perham’s Eli Beachy led the team with 15 points, while teammate Tyler Glines added 12 of his own in the game.

Kaharri Carter led Minnehaha Academy with 21 points and eight rebounds in the game.

The Yellowjackets will look to get on the right track as they travel to take on Staples-Motley Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
