VIRGINIA — The M State Spartans were able to walk on Mesabi Range’s court Friday evening and leave with a 76-70 win over the Norsemen.

The Spartans only led by a point at the break, but they were able to hold onto the lead throughout the game to pick up a much needed early season win.

Luke Halbakken led the Spartans with 23 tallies, while teammates Shane Bosek (21) and Boomer Blossom (10) were also in double figures in the win.

The Spartans Men will look to carry their momentum over to Saturday as they take on the Vermillion Ironmen in a 3 p.m. game.
