EL man shot by accident [UPDATED]

A 40-year-old Elbow Lake man was transferred from the Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow Lake to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower right leg.

The incident happened early Saturday morning five miles west of Elbow Lake. The victim was a passenger in a car driven by his friend. They were out coyote hunting and traveling down the road when the gun discharged inside the car, with the bullet hitting the victim in the leg before exiting the vehicle.

The victim is in stable condition.
