Richard R. Cichy, 84, of Richfield

Richard Cichy, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in Richfield.

He was born in Urbank and attended Parochial School, graduating from Parkers Prairie High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He married Laurie Lindelien in Bertha. Richard and Laurie settled in Pelican Rapids where he owned an egg produce company. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years as a rural carrier.

Later he and special friend and partner, Scott Dirks dealt in real estate and developed lakeshore property. Vernon Haarstick, a special friend, also worked with him in real estate.

When Richard retired from the postal service he and Laurie moved to Richfield. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends at McDonalds and trips with family to South Dakota. He was very kind and a “fun guy.”

He will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie, of 59 years; a brother, Larry; sisters, Isabel Miller and Emily Reichel; and a sister-in-law. Laura Cichy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mathilda; four brothers; two sisters; a son, Gary; and twins, Dennis and Diane.

A private funeral service for family and relatives is planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morris Nilsen Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave., in Richfield . Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with burial in Lakewood Cemetery.
