STAPLES — A huge 54 point first half propelled the Perham boys basketball team over hosting Staple-Motley Cardinals 90-61 Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets were unstoppable in the first half as every shot seemed to whisk through the net. The Cardinals went into half-time shocked by a 30 point home court deficit.

Staples were able to outscore Perham in the second half, but could not crawl out of a deep hole as the ‘Jackets picked up their first win of the year.

Hunter Salathe led the Perham shooters with 16 points, while teammates Eli Beachy (15), Sam Muer (12) and Josh Nordick (11) were also in double figures in the game.

The ‘Jackets were able to spread the ball around as 11 players were recorded a point in the win.

Perham will hit the road again Friday as they take on Crookston in a 7:30 p.m. match up.
