City to replace roof on arena connecting wing

The City Council, Monday, accepted a quote from Buttweiler’s Do-All Inc. in the amount of $47,340 to replace the existing roof on the B-Wing portion of the Community Arena.

The B-Wing connects the south and north arenas, and was part of the original high school completed in 1953.

The work will consist of removing the existing roof and replace any insulation or wood blocking that may be deteriorating and installation of new roofing, which will have a manufacturer’s warranty of 20 years.

Financing will come from surplus funds from the original Community Arena capital project ($5,000) and some of the arena capital outlay funds. The council will decide in the future where the rest of the funds will come from.

Why don’t we toss the hockey moms up there to fix it? It’s their arena and we are paying for it.
