Cleveland students showcase pets, help Humane Society
Published 11:02am Wednesday, December 5, 2012Cleveland Elementary students have a creative way to showcase their pets while helping out animals in need.
For the past several years, the Otter Tail County Humane Society has teamed up with Cleveland Elementary for a Presents for Pets service project. Students brought pictures of their own pets to school on Nov. 27 for a “pet parade” to be displayed on the walls at school. The Humane Society brought three adoptable dogs from the Humane Society, and their wish list to support animals at the shelter.
From now through the holidays, students can select an item off the wish list and buy a present for pets at the shelter.
Everyone in the community can get involved in helping pets this holiday season, and all year round.
“We’ll make the wish list available to anyone that wants to donate,” said OTC Humane Society Executive Director Joanna Watson.
Topping the wish list is dog and cat food and cat litter, though the society can put monetary donations to more efficient use.
“We get discounts and better pricing when we buy supplies,” said Watson. “But we won’t turn down any donation.”
