MOORHEAD — The Fergus Falls Otter gymnastics opened their season against the Moorhead Spuds, falling 126.925-118.487 Monday.

“Despite loosing the meet, we were excited to see some of the potential this group of gymnasts has,” Otter coach Erin Larson said. “We competed without Chandler Frigaard, one of our top scorers and captains, as she was sick. We also suffered an injury in our last event of the evening with Carolina Wagnild spraining an ankle. It will be exciting to see what our whole team can do once Carolina is healed and Chandler is feeling better.”

McKenna Hatlewick and Wagnild tied for fifth on bars with a 7.2. Appert took fifth for vault with an 8.35 and first on floor with a score of 8.1.

The Otters will back on the road Thursday at they travel to take on St. Cloud Apollo at 6:45 p.m.
