WILLMAR — In a shoot out the Fergus Falls girls hockey team was able to come away with the 4-0 shutout victory against Willmar Tuesday.barrel

Fergus Falls outshot the Cardinals 47 to 27 in a game where Sydney Kuehl led the way with one goal and two assists.

“It was the best game we’ve played start to finish,” Otter coach Matt Koalska said. “All the girls did their part. They competed, played with energy, and played smart and together.”

In the first Stephanie Kolstad got the scoring started just fifteen seconds into the game with assists from Megan Odland and Kuehl. That would be the only goal until 7:23 into the second when Taylor Bergren netted one on a pass from Kuehl. Seven minutes later it was Kuehl’s turn to put the puck in the net as she brought the lead to three. Assisting on the goal were Megan Niblock and Odlund. In the third, Lauren Norgren scored the final goal of the game to seal the deal for the Otters.

Coach Koalska is looking for consistency as the Otters look forward to their next game, on Thursday, against Pequot Lakes. “The girls have proven they can play well, and they need to do it again Thursday. We need to be consistent, and we will be a good team. If we only show up every now and then, we’ll be an average team.”

After this win, it brings the Otters record to 5-5 on the year.
