UNDERWOOD — In their home opener, the Underwood girls were able to ship Little Eight rival Battle Lake home with a 80-47 loss Tuesday.

The Rockets controlled the game from the get go as they went into the half up 22 and continued to pour on the points until the final buzzer.

“It was a really good night for us as several people contributed,” Rocket coach Brian Hovland said. “We converted on a lot of stuff we didn’t do well in the first game of the season.”

Carly Masloski led the Rockets with 22 points, while Greta Thormondson (16), Karlea Thorson (10) and Katilyn Holen (10) were also in double figures.

The Battlers’ Carly VanWatermulen scored 16 tallies and Maddie Stueve added 11 of her own in the game.

The Rockets will look to remain tough early in the season as they as travel to take on Brandon-Evansville at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while Battle Lake will look for better tides as they host the Hillcrest Comets Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
