DETROIT LAKES — The Pelican Rapids boys were able to use size and effort to pick up their first win over the Detroit Lakes Lakers 66-36 Tuesday.

The Vikings jumped out to an early 14-2 lead, playing aggressive defense that put Lakers shooters off-balance. Pelican left the court at half-time with a 40-14 lead over the home team.

The Vikings used their hot shooting hand to finish the night with 57 percent from the field to pick up the 30 point victory.

Tucker Forsgren was able to use his height to lead the Vikings with 18 points, while teammate Ryan Bruggeman dropped in 17 tallies of his own.

The Vikings will now travel to Minnetonka to play the St. Peter Saints Saturday at 12:45 p.m. in the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic.
