HENNING — The Hillcrest Comet boys basketball team opened their season on the road Tuesday, but could not find the right touch as the hosting Henning Hornets won 65-54.

With a tight first half, the Hornets were able to escape with a 30-27 lead at the break.

The second half was much like the first, but Henning was finally able to pull away to get the win.

Daniel Nersten led the Comets with 18 points and 10 rebounds, for a double-double, while teammate Jake Isaac dropped in 12 points in the game.

The Comets will look to get back on track Thursday night as they host Ortonville at 7:30 p.m.
