Crist Family to perform concert at Grace LutheranPublished 11:55am Thursday, December 6, 2012
A popular music series at Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard regularly draws attendance from beyond the congregation.
A Crist Family concert on Dec. 12 is expected to be no exception.
“We do things that we feel will be a blessing to the larger community,” said Pastor Brad Soenksen. “The concert series is well known in the area, with people coming from Fergus Falls, Rothsay and Pelican Rapids and Detroit Lakes.”
On the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m., Grace hosts a continuing concert series featuring various regional and national talent.
A variety of good old-time Gospel music is enjoyed with friendship, fellowship, and desserts following the concert.
Soenksen says the church expects about 300 attendees for the Crist Family concert.
Those attending are in for a treat, as the Crist Family is one of the fastest rising family groups in gospel music today.
The group features the six-member ensemble singing duets, trios, quartets, and as a full ensemble in four, five, and six part harmonies.
Everything from classic Southern Gospel to more progressive songs is presented with powerful and intricate harmonies, high energy, clever staging, and moving testimonies.
The Crist Family began as a part-time ministry in 1987.
In 2004, after seventeen years in ministry on the West Coast, they stepped out in faith by quitting their jobs, selling all they had and relocating across the country from Seattle, Washington to just north of Knoxville, Tennessee.
In just a few short years, their singing has brought a message of hope to thousands of people.
They have already ministered in 28 states and Canada and appeared at nearly every major event in gospel music, including regular appearances on Main Stage at the National Quartet Convention.
They signed a major recording contract with Horizon Records and were picked up by the industry leading Harper Agency for booking management. They have recorded six CDs and a Live DVD and have had amazing chart success with every song released to radio.
“It’s something we’ve done every month, with music ranging from county to blue grass gospel, with different family groups,” said Soenksen. “It’s really a lot of fun, and we have a great reputation for a warm, friendly environment.”
The concert or dessert are free, though a free-will offering is asked of those who are able to contribute.
Grace Lutheran Church is located on U.S. Hwy. 59 in Erhard.
