A Henning man and woman were arrested after a search warrant at a rural Henning residence resulted in the finding of Jeffery Kampsula, who allegedly stole more than $31,000 worth of vehicles and various items from Fergus Falls, Henning and rural areas in Otter Tail County.

Kampsula, 45, was found in the basement of a home rented by he and Katherine Gaustad, 41, who was arrested for obstructing the legal process.

Both were transported to the Otter Tail County Jail. Gaustad was issued a citation and released, and Kampsula is being held and is awaiting charges.

Property belonging to seven different complainants was recovered during the search of Kampsula’s residence and property. Stolen items were released to the rightful owners.

Kampsula has been linked to several theft complaints from Comstock Construction in Fergus Falls, a large theft from Pride Construction in Henning and thefts from five properties in rural areas near Henning, Vining, Clitheral and Parkers Prairie. He has also been linked to a fraud in rural Henning.

In addition, Kampsula has been found to have sold several stolen vehicles as scrap metal. Items recovered include a Ford Tractor, two snow plows, a large metal engine cover from a fire truck, minnow traps, oxygen aerators, several trailers, multiple power tools, hand tools, welding accessories, chain link fence, a deer stand and a game camera.

The Fergus Falls Police Department, Henning Police Department and Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the arrest of Kampsula and Gaustad.
