ASHBY — The Arrow boys basketball team were able to make the home fans proud as they defeated New York Mills 78-35 in their home opener Thursday.

Ashby was able to jump out to an early lead as they broke for half-time up 46-16.

The Eagles were unable to overcome the deficit in the second half as the Arrows celebrated their third win of the year.

Blake Ohren led the Arrows with 18 tallies and picked up seven assists, while teammate Dylan Barry chipped in 16 points of his own.

Tanner Langlie was also in double digits for Ashby as he recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

It’s always fun to win your first game at home in front of your fans,” Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. “There were a lot of good things happening on both sides of the ball and it was great to get everyone into the game and have them contribute to the victory.”

The Arrows move to 3-0 on the young season as they host Osakis Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., while the Eagles will look to rebound as they host Pillager Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
