FF boys swimming falls to Tech in opener
Published 9:55am Friday, December 7, 2012ST. CLOUD — The Fergus Falls boys swimming and diving team opened their season against a tough St. Cloud Tech Tiger team Thursday evening, fall 99-77.
Cal Mouritsen was able to capture two first place finishes as he won both the 200 IM (2:14:92) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.17), while teammate Joe Kitzman also claimed two victories with wins in 100 freestyle (51.38) and the 100 backstroke (58:57).
Clay Danielson picked up a second place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.11.
In diving action, Fergus’ Michael Aasness was able to take the top podium with a score of 229.75, while teammates Reid Magnusson (second, 175.50) and Mikey Pistulka (fourth, 163.75) also placed in the top four.
“For such a young and inexperienced team at the Varsity level,” Otter coach Tom Uvaas said. “I am very proud in the racing and individual time drops as we had 17 career Best Times. One of the outstanding drops came from Conner Hatfield, who in the 500 free swam a 6:09.68 and this was 1 minute plus drop from last year.”
The Otters will be back in action Saturday as they host the Otter Invitational at Kennedy Secondary School Poll. Diving begins at 11 a.m., while the swimming time finals will be at 1 p.m.
